How It Works

Foam board (foam core) consists of polystyrene foam sandwiched between paper or plastic facings—lightweight yet rigid, perfect for displays and presentations. We offer two printing methods: direct-to-substrate printing applies ink directly to the foam board surface, while litho mounting adheres a separately printed paper or vinyl graphic to the board. Direct printing is faster and more economical; litho mounting produces richer colors and allows specialty finishes. Choose your thickness: 3/16" for lightweight displays, 1/2" for added rigidity, or 1" for dimensional impact. We can add easel backs for tabletop display, grommets for hanging, or custom routing for shapes and letters.

Why Choose MCI

Foam board is the workhorse of presentation graphics—we've printed thousands of boards for trade shows, retail displays, real estate presentations, and corporate events. Our flatbed UV printer produces sharp graphics directly on foam board at any size. For premium results, our litho mounting delivers photo-quality output. We cut to size, add finishing hardware, and can turn rush orders in 24 hours when your presentation is tomorrow.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between direct printing and litho mounting?
Direct printing applies UV ink directly to the foam board surface—faster, more economical, and good for most applications. Litho mounting adheres a separately printed graphic to the board—produces richer colors, sharper detail, and allows specialty finishes like gloss or lamination. Choose litho for photography or premium displays.
What foam board thickness should I choose?
3/16" (standard) works for most display applications and is the most economical. 1/2" provides more rigidity for larger signs and makes a more substantial impression. 1" foam board creates dimensional impact and works well for router-cut letters and shapes.
Can foam board be used outdoors?
Standard foam board is for indoor use only—moisture causes warping and delamination. For short-term outdoor use (a few days), we can mount graphics on weather-resistant Gatorboard or PVC. For permanent outdoor signage, consider aluminum, corrugated plastic, or other outdoor-rated materials.
What finishing options are available?
We can add easel backs for tabletop display, Velcro strips for wall mounting, grommets for hanging, or edge taping for a finished look. For presentations, we can create multi-panel displays with hinged connections. Router cutting allows custom shapes, rounded corners, and dimensional letters.
