How It Works

Product box development starts with understanding your product dimensions, weight, and retail requirements. We'll discuss box styles—tuck-end boxes for simple packaging, mailer boxes for e-commerce, rigid boxes for premium products, or custom structural designs for unique items. Our team creates a die-line (cutting template) matched to your specs, then we produce a physical prototype for fit testing. Once approved, we print your design on the appropriate board stock—typically 18pt-24pt for folding cartons—with full-color graphics and any finishing (gloss, matte, soft-touch, spot UV, foil stamping). Boxes are die-cut, scored, folded, and glued as needed. We can ship flat for you to assemble or deliver fully constructed.

Why Choose MCI

Packaging directly impacts how customers perceive your product. We've produced boxes for food products, cosmetics, electronics, apparel, and specialty items—each with different structural and regulatory requirements. Our in-house die-cutting means faster prototyping and lower tooling costs than shops that outsource. We understand retail packaging requirements (UPC placement, required text, display considerations) and can guide you through common pitfalls.

Frequently Asked Questions

What box styles are available?
Common styles include tuck-end boxes (simple and economical), mailer boxes (self-locking for shipping), rigid setup boxes (premium unboxing experience), sleeve boxes, and pillow boxes. We can also create custom structural designs for unique products. Style choice depends on product, budget, and brand positioning.
How do I determine what box size I need?
Measure your product's length, width, and height, then add 1/8" to 1/4" clearance on each dimension. For fragile items, add space for padding. We'll create a prototype to test fit before full production. Bring your product in and we can measure together.
What is the difference between folding cartons and rigid boxes?
Folding cartons (like cereal boxes) ship flat and pop into shape—economical for high volumes. Rigid boxes (like iPhone boxes) are pre-assembled and don't fold—premium feel but higher cost and shipping expense. Rigid boxes are typically used for luxury products or gifts.
Can product boxes include window cutouts?
Yes. We can add die-cut windows covered with clear acetate or left open. Windows let customers see the product inside, which can increase purchase confidence. Window placement needs to account for product positioning and structural integrity.
